What is the Female Product Lead?

We are an online community and organise many in person and online events. We are a not for profit CIC - Community Interest Company - all our content, our events and membership is FREE now and will be FREE forever.

We started in May 2022 as a group on LinkedIn, this group grew organically with no investment or marketing showing there is a global need not currently being met specifically for support for female product leaders.

So to ensure that need is met in an even more tangible way we evolved to become an interactive supportive community on Slack - here members are invited to participate by becoming community thought leaders, advisors and mentors. Taking part in community events in person and virtual, as speakers, panelists, and mentors our members are able to learn, grow and become empowered and energised, they are given the support they need as well as seeing what good looks like in many different ways by continued connection to 100s of successful female product leaders as well as many allies and advocates.

With only 22% of the tech industry identifying as female and even lower representation from other under represented groups our work is vital work to build a more diverse leadership pipeline so that tech companies can build better products that serve the best interests of all members of society.

Our Purpose in all events & content we create is to empower and set our members up for success as they navigate tricky life and career challenges

Our vision

Equity in Product Leadership

Our purpose

Our long-term vision is to create a level playing field for all individuals to thrive, contribute and lead in product roles, regardless of background, identity or personal circumstances. This involves dismantling biases, addressing systemic barriers and promoting inclusive opportunities that empower diverse voices and perspectives in decision-making roles.

It’s a big vision, but one we are very passionate about!

To empower and connect female product leaders of today and tomorrow. We provide the tools, confidence and pragmatic advice needed to navigate tricky challenges and elevate careers.

Our principals

Deep connections

We believe that empowerment is created through real, authentic, genuine connections. We’re not looking to create a massive community of thousands of people who have clicked a “join community” button on LinkedIn, but rather a tight knit network of individuals who can genuinely lean on each other, learn from each other and empower each other.

Trusted Allies & Advocates

While our focus is on empowering female product leaders, we welcome trusted male allies who share our passion for driving meaningful change. We seek allies who not only stand alongside us but also exemplify what true advocacy for female empowerment looks like. We are intentional and selective about the male allies we engage with, ensuring they align with our mission and values and that we are able to maintain a feeling of psychological safety in our spaces.

Community Led

We want our community to be co-built by our members, and to grow and mature from within. We strongly value diverse ideas and want all our members, no matter where they’re at in their product journey, to feel empowered to have a voice, shape discussions and drive direction. By joining the community, our members commit to actively engaging and paying-it-forward where they are able to do so.

Free Now Free Forever

We are not, and will never, seek to monetise our community. Membership, content and events will always remain FREE to our members and guests. We became a CIC so that through funding and grants we will continue to offer the BEST events, with access to experts & organisations who are ALIGNED & COMMITTED to collaborating with us to achieve our VISION

Beyond the title of the Female Product Lead, our community is open to all, regardless of how you identify.

Whilst the title of our community name presents as being binary, we endeavour to break down some of these constructs. Our aim is instead to recognise the challenges that many face in the tech world that has historically been and is often still is systemically male-dominated.

We welcome any who feel marginalised now or have in the past and the mentors within the community and those attending mentoring events are either female product leaders or allies.
